![]() | RELIC MEDAL St. Martin de Porres (Oval) |
offer US $6.99
This beautiful silver oxidized medal is imported from Italy, and houses a third class ("touched") cloth relic of St. Martin de Porres. The front is an image of him. The back of the medal is stamped ITALY and EX INDUMENTIS as proof that this medal is actually manufactured in Italy and the relic is approved by the Church. St. Martin's prayer life was rich even in his youth. He had a deep devotion to the Passion of Our Lord, and continually prayed to know what he could do in gratitude for the immense blessings of redemption. At fifteen, he became a lay brother at the Dominican Friary at Lima and spent his whole life there-as a barber, farm laborer, almoner, and infirmarian among other things. God endowed him with many graces and wondrous gifts, such as, aerial flights and bilocation. He nursed the sick of the city, including plague victims, regardless of race, and helped to found an orphanage and foundling hospital with other charities attached to them. He distributed the convent's alms of food (which he is said sometimes to have increased miraculously) to the poor. Martin especially ministered to the slaves that had been brought from Africa. St. Martin's love was all-embracing, shown equally to humans and to animals, including vermin, and he maintained a cats and dogs hospital at his sister's house. Please do not bid on this medal unless you intend to venerate the relic, to show honor and respect to St. Martin de Porres, for the love of God in His Divine Mercy.
