Question by inoue: How much does the Canadian 0 22 karat gold proof coin worth? My uncle wants to sell this Canadian $ 100 22 karat gold proof coin. But I don't know the market price. Please advice.

Answer by liberty 911
The current spot price of gold is about $ 1000US, so the coin should sell for slightly more than the value of the fractional ounces contained in the coin. In other words, if it is 1/2oz, it should sell for slightly more than $ 500US. If it is certified, it would sell for even a bit more than that.

Dropped by the bank and picked up a nice healthy box of nickels. It was packed in a NF String box but they were all customer wrapped. I will go through the rolls and let you guys know what came out of them plus a little tip on what to search for. Also, almost every single modern nickel minted now is going to have full steps and aren’t worth anything more than normal.

I just opened up an account at TD bank so I could use their FREE coin counting machine.
I got so sick of having to re-roll every coin.

I can understand the pre-64 hunts but why bother finding any modern day (recent years) nickels?

  • TheCRHKing

I CRH very similarly. I’m uploading a video of what i have found and techniques that i follow.

  • RGRundeRGRound

    WHY?
I saw that certain late (20xx years) were more rare, is that it?

  • chunky coins

i found a 44 war nickel on the top of a roll and a 42 in a roll in the same batch also found a 2009 in my moms coin purse

  • chunky coins

nickels are my absolute favorite thing to CRH

I love nickels they are one of my favorite coin to search

  • Salamaster101

i hate hand rolls. i tried tons of them and most are pre checked. when people are rolling.. they will spot old ones. the machine rolls are people who turn in there lose change in a bin and they usually don’t check them :)

  • BwinDog10

    why pre 1960?

  • ecaidies

i have the best results with nickels in Canada Lots of pre-1964 nickels, reaching back to the 1920′s; over the year that I have been coin roll hunting.

  • airplaneengine

I have been doing this for years, its great fun. The boxes of coins I get from the bank come from Brinks so therefore you get a mix of coins that were mixed together from other banks and so on. I usually pull out 1-2 silver wartime nickels per box, 20-40 pre-1959 nickels per box, 1 buffalo every 2-3 boxes. I haven’t ever found a V nickel until yesterday, an 1883 with “CENTS”! Its in rough condition but I’m not complaining!

  • splintercellsz

I love Nickels as well. Bought 3 rolls, and pulled 6 silvers. All Jefferson though!

  • silverstackin

Your kidding! I’ve come across 3-5 boxes of brand new just in the couple months I’ve been CRH. I can’t seem to find any auctions going on right now.

  • BlueRidgeSilverhound

Full cases of new nickels go for 1.5x face on eBay. Check out the completed auctions if you have time. The moment I come across a full box of 2012′s, I’m flipping that thing!

  • silverstackin

Oh yeah, The last 2 boxes I’ve gotten were ALL 2011 nickels. Every single wrapper.

  • BlueRidgeSilverhound

I usually pull a silver out every so often, I haven’t gotten one in the last three boxes. Sometimes it will award you when you least expect it.
